Acharya NG Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU), Hyderabad, and Food and Agribusiness School (FABS), SVVR Educational Society, Hyderabad Have signed an MoU on May 25, 2009 rural transformation in general and transformation of agriculture sector in particular. During these talks it was also realized that the task of facilitating the modernization of India's agriculture and agribusiness sectors is far beyond the capabilities of a single institution. It was therefore felt that both the organizations would benefit by working together on issues of rural and agriculture sector transformation. It is therefore proposed to enter into an agreement to work together in the areas of:

  • Long duration academic programmes
  • Research, knowledge generation and publication
  • Sharing faculty and knowledge resources
  • Rural and agriculture sector transformation programmes implementation
  • Any other mutually acceptable area

In addition to providing each others’ library and knowledge resources, the collaboration would include jointly conducting / organizing:

  • Research
  • Seminars and workshops
  • Training programmes

During the occasion, Dr. P Raghava Reddy, Vice-Chancellor, ANGRAU had stressed that ANGRAU is in the process of developing partnerships with some Agricultural Universities in USA to further strengthen its already strong technological base. He stressed that MoU with FABS will help strengthen management courses articularly for its commercial agribusiness management courses. Dr. WR Reddy, Secretary of FABS mentioned that agriculture in India need to be transformed to “as enterprises” from “a way of life”. Strategies that help in linking small & marginal farmers and even large farmers with markets play an important role in this transformation. Prof. K Prathap Reddy, Director, FABS mentioned that FABS hopes to take help from ANGRAu in technology management while FABS will extend its support to management courses. Thus this MoU would be a win-win partnership for both the organizations.
